Remote online notarization is when a signer personally appears before the notary at the time of the notarization using audio-visual technology over the internet instead of being physically present in the same room. Online notarization in Louisiana was legalized through LA Revised Statute RS 35:621 as a necessity during the 2020 COVID lockdowns. As long as the Louisiana notary is located within the physical boundaries of the state of Louisiana, they can remotely notarize a document for a person located anywhere in the world.
At The Online Notary, a subsidiary of The Bluest Ink, we offer immediate online notarization services for just $25 per seal. We use a secure platform to connect customers with live notaries via mobile phone, computer or tablet. After verifying their identity with a picture ID and selfie, the customer joins the notary in a video session where each party signs the document, and the notary places their seal on it. The customer is then sent a payment link and the notarized document is emailed immediately after payment is completed.
Most documents can be notarized online, including affidavits, powers of attorney, sales, legal documents, consent forms, releases, and verifications. Customers outside of Louisiana should check local regulations to ensure the document being notarized online is acceptable in their specific jurisdiction.
While we still offer in-person and mobile notary services at The Bluest Ink, we are excited to add online notary signings to our suite of services for even more convenience. Click here to have your document notarized online now.
